Decluttering Ideas – How To Declutter Your Home When Feeling Overwhelmed… the best tips, tricks, advice and help to get rid of clutter and simplify your life.

If you’re feeling SO overwhelmed with the mess in your home, getting rid of clutter and KEEPING it clutter-free requires 2 important steps –

1 – DEcluttering the stuff and

2 – Having a place for everything.

Clutter happens when we have more stuff than space to put it, it’s really as simple as that. When we don’t know where to PUT things, they just get placed any ol’ where and it starts to build with STUFF EVERYWHERE.

When starting to declutter, pick ONE room or ONE space to begin with. First, get everything OUT of that room or space that does NOT belong there.

Set a timer for 10 minutes (or less if you’re REALLY overwhelmed) Put on some upbeat music and start.

Grab a trash bag and put any trash in it.

Set aside 2 areas: donate and keep.

Take anything out of that room or space that doesn’t belong there. Don’t wander off to go put it in it’s proper place right away – you want to stay focused on that one space for the full 10 minutes.

The immediate goal is to get ONE space clutter-free, clean and organized. Once you have that ONE space completed, you will LOVE how it looks AND how it makes you feel and you will start to feel excited about decluttering more areas in your home.
